Crafting Your Picture Book is a beginner-level course where participants explore the fundamentals of writing children's picture books. Teachers! Librarians! Yes! This class is definitely for you :)
Through guided journaling, interactive exercises and assignments, and Emily's simple picture book framework, students will tap into their inner child to develop heartwarming, imaginative stories. The course covers essential guidelines for writing for children, focusing on character development, emotional depth, and the importance of empowering young readers through storytelling.
The class is a small group with a maximum of 10 attendees. Each writer will receive specific feedback from Emily on 2 pieces of writing as well as have the opportunity to workshop their writing with the group.
As an award-winning author, musician, and educator, Emily Arrow has over 15 years of experience bringing stories to life. She will guide you through the process of writing a picture book from idea to manuscript, helping you craft a story that is both heartfelt and impactful, no matter your experience level.
A note: Though we will not discuss illustration in depth, illustrators who want to learn the art of picture book writing are encouraged to join us! We will discuss the process and ways to write successful illustration notes.
